Cal clinched a share of the Pac-10 with a win over Arizona! The game was dominated by Cal throughout the day on both sides of the ball. The defense continues to play strong and held Arizona under 250 total yards. Main story of the game was the lack of balance for the Golden Bears; after losing Vereen last week to a strained back for 2 weeks, Cal had to depend on the arm of Riley. Thankfully Riley only threw 2 INTs this week, while throwing for season-high 446yds.
Coach B had a few words to say about the day, "Losing Vereen for the next couple of weeks was heartbreaking, but we still have a explosive passing game that can score on any throw. While Riley could be a danger to us, today he showed his resilience and kept throwing great passes when we needed them. Riley's numbers on the day were very impressive, but he could do very little without our deadly WR duo today. We had Ross and Lagemann both catch over 100yds. I'm extremely proud of our boys today, we need to continue to win if we're to take home that trophy at the end of the season."
With USC losing a couple of weeks ago, Cal took over the top spot in the Pac-10. All that stands in their way of glory is their annual rivalry with Stanford and "The Big Game".
Scoreline:
POTG:
Cal: QB K.Riley 36-56, 446yds, 4 TDs, 2 INTs
Arizona: HB N.Grigsby 23car, 114yds, 2 TDs
