11 Recruiting Update on Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:25 am

Boston College got off to that hot start in recruiting and it appeared that they were in for a good class, but then things went south. The Eagles lost out and fell behind on some recruits that they had targeted. The coaching staff didn't get discouraged and just had to look a little deeper at the pool of players. This past week they started recruiting two players to bolster the defense. Both were so excited that Boston College wanted them to come that they committed on the spot when Coach Petersen offered them scholarships. Marquis Williams is a 6'2" CB from Florida and the staff actually likes him better than a corner they were recruiting almost all season that committed to Illinois. Williams has excellent speed but has room to grow and will be given the time to do just that. Antwan Hines is a SS from South Carolina who should fit in nicely. BC wanted to add depth at the safety position and Hines will be a perfect fit there.

12 Recruiting Update- Week Eleven on Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:06 pm

Boston College has added 4 solid quality recruits the past two weeks. The best of the bunch and maybe the best recruit that BC has committed all season is 4 star DE Michael Myrick. Myrick looks like he will be a perfect fit as a defensive end in a 3 down lineman set which Boston College has moved to and will likely stay with. The Eagles also added 1 star FB Brian James, 3 star G Joey Johnson, and 3 star WR Desmond Edmonds.

13 2013 Recruiting on Thu Feb 09, 2012 10:43 am

Boston College had a drop off last year in recruiting. In Coach Petersen's first season the Eagles had their best recruiting class ever, 12th in the nation, but last year they fell to 38th in the country. BC got off to a good start but then things quickly went south as they lost several close battles for key players. The recruits that BC did haul in should develop into key players but the overall depth of the class isn't overly strong. Coach Petersen vowed to do anything necessary to put together a great class in 2013.

Coach Petersen looks like he will definitely make good on that promise after a phenomenal start to recruiting this week. The Eagles had three players commit on the spot when offered. All the players will fill big needs for BC and are all excellent players. They committed 4 star WR Paul Ford from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, 4 star DT Tremaine Johnson from Berwick, Louisiana, and 4 star SS Matthew Booth from Livingston, New Jersey. This is a similar situation as last year when BC got two commits the first week of recruiting then didn't do much else the rest of the year. This season they Eagles coaching staff has a little bit of a different plan to ensure that the same thing doesn't happen again and hopes to continue to bring in the commitments.

14 Recruiting Update- Week Four on Mon Feb 13, 2012 10:46 am

Boston College tacks on another commitment to their slowly growing list. They add their third defensive player thus far, this time from a corner JJ McCray. McCray, from St. Petersburg, Florida, is a speedy CB who has just about all the skills you are looking for in a defensive back. McCray will one day be the anchor of the BC secondary and may see playing time as early as his second year on campus. The Eagles now have four commitments on the season already putting them in a great position to add more in the coming weeks.
