Boston College at Northwestern BCvsNorthwestern

Boston College Rolls Past the Wildcats

Evanston, Illinois--Boston College went on the road looking to continue its hot start against Northwestern who is going in the opposite direction. Northwestern has been without their coach all season but the school is still not releasing where Coach Ryan is or what has happened to him. Theories abound across the nation that it has something to do with his angry rant about Northwestern at the beginning of the season. Without their coach Northwestern wasn't able to compete with the Eagles and it resulted in an ugly blowout.

Rettig had One of the Best Games of his Career

Boston College got the ball to start the game and Chase Rettig went right to work leading his team down the field. Rettig is having a great season thus far and is looking to prove critics wrong that gave him little respect coming into the season. The drive would end with a touchdown pass from Rettig to freshman TE Brain Miller. After trading punts Rettig and the Eagles were back at it on offense. Rettig escaped a sack in the redzone and fired a laser to Colin Larmond in the endzone. Larmond dove out and made a sensational catch to put BC up 14-0.

The Boston College defense would get another stop and would get inside the 10 yard line but instead of scoring a touchdown had to settle for a field goal. Northwestern would finally put a drive together and get on the scoreboard with a long touchdown pass from Colter to Fields with under 2 minutes to go. BC would work quickly and found themselves back in the redzone thanks to timely runs and good decision making by Rettig. This time they would get it in the endzone with Andre Williams who is quickly making everyone forget about Montel Harris. BC had a 24-7 lead with under 30 seconds left when the WIldcats got the ball back and made a big error. The tried to move into scoring position but on the first play a fumble gave the ball back to BC.

Boston College would run out of time and have to settle for a field goal to increase the lead to 27-7 going into the half. The offense put together the best first half of the season as they had amassed over 200 yards passing and over 100 yards rushing in the first half alone.

The second half would be more of the same for both teams. Northwestern would be forced to punt on its first drive and give the ball to the dangerous BC offense. Boston College would go for the throat on their first offensive play of the half. Rettig would fake to Williams and loft a pass over the defense and Bobby Swigert ran underneath it. Swigert would run the rest of the way for the 74 yard bomb and 34-7 lead.

The WIldcats would come back down the field and get their final points of the game. They would hit a 19 yard chip shot field goal to give them 10 points on the game. Boston College wouldn't stop the onslaught on its next drive. After getting to near midfield Rettig dropped off a screen pass to the super sophomore HB Andre Williams and he would follow his blockers for a 51 yard touchdown. The Eagles would finally relax after the touchdown as the game headed into the fourth quarter. After Freese's third field goal of the game Andre Williams would score Andre Williams would score his second rushing touchdown of the game.

From that point on the backups would bring it home for the Eagles as they coasted to victory. HB Deuce Finch would score his first career touchdown to push the final up one more score. Boston College would walk away pleased with its win but they know there is a lot of work still to be done. Next week will prove to be a huge test as BC will host a Cal team looking to take down the top 5 Eagles team. Final: 58-10
