On a beautiful day in Boise, Idaho, the Wisconsin Badgers had to come into one of the toughest places to play in all of college football. But the Badgers wouldnt let the roudy crowd phase them all game. Boise started out with the ball and scored on a 57yd FG to start off the scoring for the day. However, Wisconsin wouldnt stay behind for long as the scored on a 59yd TD pass to the fullback Bradie Ewing. Coach Colosimo said this about that play, "Bradie works hard everyday so we have specific plays set out for him in which we know he will produce something big, he is one of our most underrated players." But Boise would quickly take the lead again after a 54yd FG attempt smacked off the left upright in went through to make the score 10-7 Boise. Boise would intercept Wisconsin quarterback Scott Tolzien on the ensuing drive which led to a 75yd TD run by Boise RB Jeremy Avery. Putting the Broncos out on top ealy. But with the determination of this Wisconsin team, they knew they couldnt get behing anymore as senior Captain David Gilreath took the ensuing kickoff to the house, 98yds.
But again Boise went to there ground attack throughout their next drive and would score from 16 yards out by RB Jeremy Avery, his second and final touchdown of the day. Wisconsin showed the determination again and drove down the field after making a 3rd and a 4th down conversion successfully, they scored on a 14yd TD pass to backup RB Zach Brown. The score was then 24-21 to end the first.
The second started out with a bang as Wisconsin LB Kevin Rouse intercepted the Kellen Moore pass which led to a Badger score by way of a Scott Tolzien pass to AA WR Nick Toon from 7yds out. The only other opportunity for points was by Boise with :6 left in the half, a FG attempt of more than 50 yards went wide left, but had plenty of distnace. The score at half would 28-20.
The 3rd quarter was started off by a 22yd KO return by Toon and eventually led to a 6yd TD pass to TE Rob Korslin, however the PAT would be blocked making the score 34-20. Boise would be forced to punt on the next drive and Wisconsin wouldnt let the chance go to waste as they scored on a FG of their own from 41yds out by true freshman Justin Moss. On Boise's next drive, they would fumble on a huge hit layed on by the SR DE JJ Watt who actually get hurt from the power of his collision with Avery. Wisconsin then took over and scored on another FG, this time from 25 yards out. That would be the end of the 3rd, score is 40-20 Badgers.
The 4th would have no scoring drives in it, the closest who came to scoring was Boise when they were on the Wisconsin 6 yard line. But the Badger defense stood tall and stopped the Broncos on 4 downs. Wisconsin would run out the clock until the clock struck 00:00. The final score was 40-20 Wiscosnin.
Coach Muzzy commented on the outcome of the game, "I couldnt be happier with the way this team played today, as these boys have seen in the last 2 weeks, we arent unstoppable, we have weaknesses just liek every other team in
college. All in all though, the team gelled well, Scott played well, were waiting to hear word on John's injury, the doctor said it doesnt look good but well have more on that later on."
Overall, despite the score it was a battle till the end.
