Mississippi State played their first game of the year at the Washington Huskies and showed signs of greatness. Their explosive offense tallied over 400 yards of offense but three times drives stalled and had to kick field goals, one of which was missed off the upright. The Bulldog spread option clicked in the first half as the different runners opend up passing lanes. In the second half however Relf wasn't able to but the ball on target and so the O only scored 6 in the second half. The offense looked good for the opener but will need to improve as the weeks go on. On defense the Dogs were stout giving up less than 150 yards and only 3 points. It was a true team effort but the D is going to need to force turnovers if they want to be great.
