This was a huge game for the Wolfpack as heading into this one they were tied for the conference lead with both the BC Eagles and this Maryland team...so any slip up and NC States dreams of making the ACC championship game would go up in smoke.
The Wolfpack won the toss and elected to kick the ball. Maryland was able to march down the field pretty easily but a few defensive adjustments later and the mighty turtles had to settle for a FG.
On the ensuing KO Graham who has been dangerous all year returned it to the house on a 93 yard run that instantly put the Wolfpack up 7-3 and changed the momentum of the game as NC State would put up 28 more points in the second quarter to Marylands 3 and it was NC State - 35 Maryland - 6 at the half.
In the second half MC State played conservative and smart football but still was able to add 14 points in the 4th quarter and Maryland finally punched one in for a major but it was all Wolfpack in this one as the final score turned out in NC State's favour 49-13.
Glennon, Greene and Graham were all huge in this game as Greene ran for over 160 yards, Graham had over 100 yards receiving and Glennon threw for 3 TDs. But, the real stars of this game was the entire defense as they allowed only 13 points against a very tough opponent.
This win was huge as it looks as though by virtue of the head to head win against BC that NC State will be playing in the ACC championship and who knowsw what might happen there.
Also, on the National Championship front with NC State sitting at #3 in the country if Okla. can find a way to lose then the Wolfpack might just sneak in there!? Not counting on that though as the Sooners look strong this season! A BCS bowl berth and the ACC championship have always been the goals for this season so that is the focus heading into the Wolfpacks next game.
