The Minnesota Golden Gophers capped off there perfect season with a stunning 52-0 victory over the #2 Oklahoma Sooners in the BCS National Championship with there defense pitching there 3rd shutout in 4 games.

The Oklahoma Sooners would win the toss and elect to kick. Da Jon Mcknight would have a nice 30 yard kick return to set the Gophers up at there own 34. After two runs the Gophers faced a 3rd and 10 when QB Marqueis Gray dropped back to pass and would throw one deep to WR Da Jon Mcknight in one on one coverage who had beat his man and the pass would lead him perfectly in stride and Mcknight would haul it in for the 66 yard catch and run TD to put the Gophers up 7-0 with 5:46 to play in the 1st.

The Sooners would look to respond but the stingy Gophers Defense would force them to go 3 and out. The Gophers would take over and drive the ball down the field setting up a 1 yard Gray TD run with 0:22 to play in the 1st.

The 2nd quarter would see much of the same as the #2 Oklahoma's high powered passing attack couldnt solve the #1 Minnesota's vaunted defense and the Sooners had no answer for the nations top rushing attack. B Back Duane Bennett would score from 7 yards out with 4:26 left in the 2nd quarter to put the Gophers up 21-0.

Bennett would add another score this time from 1 yard out with 3:04 left in the half to put Minnesota up 28-0. Chris Hawthorne would add 3 pts with a 37 yard FG with no time left to put the Gophers up 31-0 at the break.

Minnesota would produce the lone score in the 3rd quarter on a 43 yard run by Gray with 3:28 left in the 3rd quarter putting Minnesota up 38-0.

Bennett would add his 3rd TD of the game from 7 yards out in the 4th quarter with 5:12 left to play to put the Gophers up 45-0. A Back Lamonte Edwards would cap off the thrashing with a 25 yard run with 0:58 to play making the final Minnesota 52 Oklahoma 0.

Having trouble uploading the Edwards TD but hopefully will put that here.

QB Marqueis Gray was named player of the game going 4 for 4 for 164 yards and 1 TD and adding 25 carries for 127 yards and 2 TD's. Gray set the all time Gophers single season Rushing TD mark with 19 besting the former mark of 18 set in 2005. Duane Bennett in his final collegiate game of his career ran 18 times for 172 yards and 3 TD's. Bennett would set the school's single season record for yards with 1501 besting the former mark of 1464 also set in 2005.

The Gophers dominated the game rushing 53 times for 362 yards and 6 TD's and threw for 164 yards and a TD while holding the powerful Sooners to 10 yards rushing and 7 yards passing. Oklahoma did not convert a single 3rd down.

"Im so proud of all of these kids, our offense learned a brand new system and our defense played hard all year long"

ty, I was very surprised in how this turned out got a huge 3rd down conversion for a TD on the opening drive and it went well from there, got up and Oklahoma abandoned the run for the most part and also threw alot of hb slip screens and short passes, my dbs werent tested all that much
