Rutgers Pulls by Cincy to claim Big East Crown Rutger10

The snow fell hard in Brunswick as visiting Cincnnatti came to town for what was essentially, the Big East Championship Game. Both team came in unbeaten in confernece play and one would leave with the title of Big East Champs.

The game started and continued as a defensive battle with both teams not able to put any point on the board let alone cross each others 50 yard line for the entire first quarter. Savage would end the scoring drought as he connected with Harrison for the 25th time this year for a 24 yrd TD to put Rutgers up 7-0. The rest of the quarter would remain the same until Savage would throw a pic to JR FS Lambert insdie the Rutgers 20 yrd line. SR QB Collaros would walk in from 3 yrds out with 1:06 on the clock to tie the game. Savage would get some redemdemption with a well orchestrated drive and his 2nd TD pass, this one to Wright from 8 yrds out with :12 left in the half to put Rutgers up 14-7 at halftime.

The 3rd quarter would see the same see-saw battle for field position until Cincy's Hudson plunged in from 1 yrd out to tie the game again at 14 with :04 left in the quarter. Freshman Ryan O'Neal would score the game winning TD from 2 yrds out with 2:59 on the clock. Cincy would threaten on two potential game tieing drives both ended by Rutgers INT's, the first by Khaseem Greene and then the nail in the coffin by SR OLB Manny Abreu. Rutgers has now run up their winning streak to 8. The remaining schedule for the Knights does not get any easier. Next week they will host FSU for their final home game and Senior Day. Then it is to the road to battle Louisville and then the finale with bitter rival Wisconsin in Madison.

This game lived up to all the hype around it and should make for a new bitter rivalry that should decide the Big East for the next years to come. Should be a nail biter and a defensive struggle each and every year.

I got to give alot of respect to The Fluff, he will be a force to contend with year in and year out for me and all others better watch out. He is tough on both sides of the ball. Good game Fluff. Looking forward to the rematch next year at Nippert Field.
