Boston College vs Duke BCvsDuke

Boston College Bends but Doesn't Break

Chesnut Hill, Massachusetts-- Boston College was coming off two big road victories against UCLA and Illinois and were looking to keep that momentum going as they headed into ACC play against Duke. Duke didn't look great on paper, although much better than years past, but they came out fired up and BC came out a little flat. Duke played well early but couldn't get enough points on successful drives early on to keep BC at bay.

TE Chris Pantale Had a Career Day against Duke

Duke got the ball first but a missed field goal spoiled their chances. After a couple of stops each Boston College was able to get a little momentum going with a TD pass from Chase Rettig to Bobby Swigert. Duke would quickly answer back with a touchdown less than a minute later. Coach Petersen was visibly upset with the way his team started the game and apparently his team got the message. Rettig dropped back to pass and found Pantale breaking open across the middle. Rettig lead him perfectly and Pantale was able to out run the chasing Blue Devils to the endzone and give BC a 14-7 lead.

Pantale Gets a TD and 75 of his 116 Yards

A fired up Boston College defense came out and got a quick three-and-out and set up there offense to increase the lead. BC drove down the field and Rettig threw yet another TD pass, this time to TE Lars Anderson from 26 yards out and BC now had a seemingly comfortable 21-7 lead. Duke would show its resilience and answered right back cut the lead to 21-14. BC was left with 1 minute left and would try to score quickly. After moving the ball a little bit Rettig hit WR Ifeanyi Momah for a 64 yard TD pass to take a 28-14 lead into the half.

Momah had a the Best Game of his Career

The third quarter would be all Boston College as they would outscore Duke 14-0 in the quarter to really push their lead. Harris found the endzone for the first time and Rettig threw his career high fifth touchdown pass and second touchdown pass to Momah. Heading into the fourth quarter the game was all but wrapped up as BC had a comfortable 42-14 lead.

Harris Ran for 175, Pushing his Season Total to 409 Yards

Duke would add on one more and final touchdown as QB Renfree threw a TD pass to Braxton. Then Boston College would add a 34 yard Nate Freese field goal to cap the scoring for the game. BC looks to have an easy game next week when Akron comes to Massachusettss then its back to ACC play when BC hosts Wake Forest. The Eagles are certainly headed in the right direction as they get ready to head into the meat of their schedule in three weeks. That will be the stretch to see if Boston College is for real or if they just had some early success.Final: 45-21
