Boston College Struggles Continue, Bury Wake in Fourth
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts-- One week after the Boston College Eagles needed overtime to beat Akron the Eagles would face ACC foe Wake Forest at home. Coach Petersen was extremely disappointed with the way his team played last week and wanted to see improvement this week. The good news is that the defense answered the bell and played their best game of the season led by Luke Kuechly's 10 tackles. The bad news is that the offense looked stagnant for most of the game yet again. The offensive line looked overmatched and the passing game failed to click for the second straight week. But at the end of the day Boston College did enough to get its fifth straight victory.
One of Eight Boston College Sacks
The Demon Deacons would get the ball first and drive down the field on their first drive, quickly getting into field goal range. Things were looking like they would be similar to last week, but then the defense would step up. A Wake pass over the middle would be jumped by FS Jim Noel who would come up with the first big play of the game.
Noel Gets his First Pick of the Season
Boston College would look decent on their opening drive as they would march down the field mostly using the passing attack due to a lack of success on the ground. The drive would stall inside the five and BC was forced to kick a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Wake Forest wold answer with their first and only touchdown of the game. Boston College would answer nicely on the next drive when HB Montel Harris set up a touchdown with a long screen pass from Chase Rettig. The score a few plays later would put the Eagles up 10-7.
The Harris Screen Gets BC Close
That touchdown by the Eagles was the last score of the half. BC wasn't pleased with their play but the 10 points was 10 more than last week. The second half would be all Eagles but they still didn't look dominant. Boston College would manage one more touchdown in the game, and that came courtesy of Montel Harris. Harris took the ball off the left side and powered in the endzone for his first TD of the game and the Eagles' second TD.
Harris Scores the BC Touchdown
The only other scoring in the game came from the foot of Freese. Freese would boot three more field goals to give him a season high of four on the game. Boston College showed signs of improvement at times but overall they still have things to work on. Next week it gets a lot tougher for BC as the travel to Clemson to face the Tigers. The game will mark a tough stretch for BC that will test just how good they really are. Final: 26-7
