Rutgers came in to the Horeshoe Saturday looking to get back on the winning track and that they did. The Scarlett Knights pulled off the upset of #6 Ohio St by a solid ball control offense and stout defense. The offense racked up 255 yrds on the ground by a committee of 5 players. They controled the clock for 17 minutes of the 24 and kept T. Pryor on the bench where he could do minimal damage. Rutgers would lead at halftime 14-7 but would suffer another major injury at QB. DC Jefferson, who is filling in for injured star QB Tom Savage, tore an abdominal muscle and will miss the next 4 weeks. Jefferson was having a stellar game on the ground working the option when he went down. Jefferson carried the ball 9 times for 96 yrds before leaving the game. 3rd string QB Mike Latimer stepped in and orchestrated the 2nd half ground game led by Joe Martinex. Rutgers went into the 4th Quarter leading 21-7. However, Prior woke up in the 4th Quarter, throwing 2 TD passes and tie the game with 2:07 to play. Rutgers would then take to the ground yet again and drive down to kick the game winning FG with 9 seconds on the clock. Rutgers would leave the Horseshoe ith a 24-21 victory but it was bittersweet as the QB situation continues to get gloomier each game. Coach Tim Ryan said he was looking into possible options to fill the void at least until Jefferson can get back on the field. Rutgers is getting ready for Big East play and they start with perennial big boys Pitt and WVU. "We can not sit around and cry whoa is me. We have to get up and play. The Big East will not wait for us to find a QB. We have to grab the reins and someone will have to step up. That is what Championship teams do and that is who we want to be. A Championship team" Rutgers looks like they are headed in the right direction but the lack of a passing game is a major concern here in Brunswick. "You can't be one dimensional" said Ryan as he left the podium Saturday night.

I am holding open tryouts for the spot but noone has shown up. We are also mandating mandatory qb jackets and bubble wrap this week. LOL
