First we will start by saying noone got injured for more then 1 quaarter. Freshman QB Mike latimer did leave the game for 1 quarter due to a bruised shoulder but did return and had his best game yet. Latimer went 10-19 for 169 yrds and 3 TD's and no INT's. Where the numbers don't jump out at you he did not turn the ball over and had three beautiful passes that went to the house, 2 of them coming on 3rd and long. That was the story for the Scarlett Knights who faced 18 3rd downs and converted on 11 of them. Syracuse did shut down the running game though, holding Rutgers to only 133 yrds on the ground. Rutgers has been averaging 250 yrds plus on the ground.

The game was a tale of 4 quarters for the Rutgers offense. Syracuse jumped out first to a 7-0 lead but then the Knights defense shut down Nassib and CO. The Knights would not score any points in the first quarter but then on their 3rd possesion was able to find the end zone when SR Kordell Young scampered in from 3 yrds out. Then Latimer would hook up with SR WR Julien Hayes from 19 yrds out to make it 14-7 right before Halftime. The 3rd quarter saw again a dormant Rutgers offense as no scoring happened in the 3rd. Latimer would break that drought with a 41 yrd bomb to SOPH Mark Harrison on 3rd and 18. Latimer may have had a career day if it hadn't had been for 8 or 9 balls that just seemed to get away from him and were grossly off target of the wide open WR. TE would add a FG to make it 24-7 and then Latimer and Harrison wouyld hook up again for a 28 yrd TD to seal the blowout at 31-7. Rutgers looking to continue the winning next week when they host UCONN.

The buzz around campus is that DC Jefferson, the injured backup QB, has been starting to throw the ball in practice. He will not play against UCONN, but the Knights do have a much neeeded BYE week after that before the big showdown in South Florida. Jefferson hopes to be back for that game and the Knights sure do need him for that one. Tom Savage has also updated his status and is shooting for his return for the season finale against Virginia. He will definitly play in the bowl game.
