Leading 32 - 27 the tigers had the ball at the NCSU 30 yardline with 45 seconds to play. On 4th and 3 the tigers elected to bypass a FG by their true freshman kicker whose season long is 41 yards and elected to attempt to pick up the first down and end the game as the pack was out of time outs.
The conversion was unsuccessful giving the pack the ball back with 42 seconds to play. NCSU made it to midfield with 17 seconds remaining. With the Tigers playing prevent, NCSU QB Wilson had about 8 seconds in the pocket before uncorking the bomb to a well covered WR in the endzone.
