The Boilermakers defense came through big time in West Lafayette today, leading the team to a 35-0 victory over rival #21 Notre Dame. Purdue came out of the gates running the ball hard down the field to put up 7 on their first drive.

Notre Dame drove down the field quickly on their first drive, but stumbled on 3rd and 10 on the Boilermaker 30 yard line. A holding call turned a first and goal into a 3rd and 20. This was followed by 10 yard sack of the Fighting Irish QB Tommy Reese, forcing a punt. Notre Dame's only real chance to score after this was on a long field they missed to end the half.

With a comfortable lead early, Purdue kept the ball on the ground and in the hands of HB's Ralph Bolden and Akeem Shavers.

The Boilermakers close out their non-conference games 3-1 and welcome streaking Minnesota to town next week to kick off their Big Ten Season.

Ralph Bolden: 224yds Rushing, 18yds Receiving, 3 total TD
Akeem Shavers: 107yds Rushing, 2 TD

Dang great win! Hopefully I can have the same success with the Irish when I play them in a couple of week. Good luck against the Gophers next week!

Well I knocked out their HB for 8 weeks and there is a big drop off to 2nd string. That ought to help.
