The Golden Gophers improve to 6-0 and became bowl eligible with a 17-13 victory on a late 81 yard TD catch and run by Lamonte Edwards.
The game opened up with Minnesota winning the toss and going 3 and out, Oregon State then drove the field but would have to settle for 3. Minnesota would be forced to punt on their next drive and on the punt the Gophers would force and fumble and scoop it and score to go up 7-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. Oregon State would make it 10-7 when a QB Marqueis Gray would make a questionable pitch and the Beavers would scoop it and score. The 3rd quarter saw both teams trade FG's and the score would be 13-10 after 3 quarters. On a 4th and 1 on their own side of the field late in the 4th Turner kept the offense out there and Gray would hit Edwards in the flat but the Beaver defender would knock the ball out and even had he not it would have been close, so the Gophers defense would have to step up down 3 with Oregon State nearing FG range. The Gophers D would force the Beavers into a 3rd down using 1 timeout in the process when they were able to sack the Beavers QB and put them at the brink of FG range, the Beavers elected to punt and it went for a touchback.
Less then 2 minutes and 1 timeout the Gophers were looking to get into field goal range. On first down they would lose a yard rushing, on 2nd down Gray would hook up with Edwards deep down the seam and he would break the safeties tackle and take it 81 yards for the go ahead score. The Beavers would get a 1st down on their next possession but then would turn the ball over on a 4th down play when LB Tinsley picked off the pass. 2 2 yard runs set up a 3rd and 6 and B Back Duane Bennett would convert and with only 1 timeout left Minnesota was able to kneel to end the game.
A Back Lamonte Edwards was the player of the game with 6 carries for 15 yards and 3 receptions for 108 yards and the game winning TD.
