The Minnesota Gophers improved to 5-0 (2-0) with a 17-2 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers. The Defense stepped up huge for the Gophers who struggled on offense and were flagged 5 times for holding. The Gophers opened the scoring with 2:33 left in the 2nd Q on a 25 yard FG by Hawthorne, this would be the only scoring until the 4th quarter when on 3rd and 1 Marqueis Gray connected with A Back Lamonte Edwards in the flat and he proceeded to run over the Boilermaker CB and take it in for a 25 yard TD to put the Gophers up 10-0. On the Boilermakers next drive CB M. Carter would step in front of a pass and took it 52 yards for a TD to put the Gophers up 17-0. Purdue would get on the board on a safety when CB Kyle Henderson picked off a pass near the goaline and his momentum would take him in to the endzone where he would be tackled.
