After allowing a 13 point comeback by UGA in their last outing the Clemson defense would have nothing of the sort in this game. Despite a poor offensive effort from Kyle Parker and company, The tiger defense was outstanding limiting Maryland to 6 points on three FG attempts.

Despite the efforts of the defense, the offense attempted to allow Maryland to control the first half. A Kyle Parker interception lead to a Maryland FG and a 3 - 0 lead. A defensive struggle ensued from that point with neither team able to move the ball. A good punt and a holding penalty backed the terps up to their 5 yardline. The tiger D put Clemson's first points of the game on the board, dropping the UMD QB in the endzone for a safety. The Clemson offense again sputtered and Maryland took advantage, kicking a 51 yard field goal as the half expired for a 6 - 2 lead.

Sensing his team needed a spark, HB Roderick McDowell took the opening kickoff 93 yards giving Clemson a lead it would not relinquish at 9 - 6. After a UMD interception, the Tiger offense finally got on the board with a short TD run by the fullback to push the lead to 17 - 6. A late FG would provide the final margin of 19 - 6 as the Terps offense only threatened once in the second half and that resulted in a missed field goal attempt.
