Boston College vs Virginia Tech BCvsVaTech

Boston College Finds a Way to Win Again

Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts-- Boston College and Virginia Tech were meeting in their first of possibly two matchups. Both teams are undefeated in ACC play and are favorites to win their respective divisions. Boston College got off to a great start as they have done so many times this season. The defense started the game with a quick stop and the O marched right down the field. Rettig would finish off the drive with a TD pass to Chris Pantale. VT would answer back with a David Wilson touchdown run. Wilson torched the BC defense last year and he had the best game of any running back against BC this year. Both defenses would play well for the rest of the half. BC would get a rare running TD from Rettig as he ran it in from 22 yards out and the Hokies would add a field goal with a little over one minute left in the half making it a 14-10 game going into the break.

Both defenses would play well to start the third and in the first half of the quarter only the Eagles would manage a Nate Freese 46 yard field goal. David Wilson would answer back with the biggest play of the game for the Hokies. Wilson would break off a huge run of 67 yards tying the game at 17. Freese would add another field goal to give BC back the lead before heading into the fourth quarter.

The stage was set for a big fourth quarter but it turned into a Boston College run away. Little used fourth WR Jonathan Coleman, who only had one catch all season coming into the game, had the catch of the day for BC. On third down from the thirty yard line Coleman beat the coverage and caught a laser from Rettig in the endzone putting BC up two scores. Now Virginia Tech had their backs to the wall and BC took advantage. The Eagles forced a fumble and FS Spencer Rositano scooped it up and ran untouched for a 34 yard touchdown putting the nail in the coffin. Deuce Finch would add a rushing TD with one minute left in the game to put the icing on the cake. Final: 41-17
